Education in Haiti
We believe that education is the single most important investment we can make for the future of Haiti. Education is knowledge gain. Education develops in us a new perspective and a new way of seeing life. It gives us the capability of interpreting things, among other things. But unfortunately, lack of education is one of Haiti's root causes of poverty and violence.
In the Western Hemisphere, Haiti has the lowest literacy rate. Compared to the 92% average literacy rate of the Latin American and Caribbean countries, Haiti has a literacy rate of 61%. Haitian women have a literacy rate of 58.3%. In comparison, Haitian men have a literacy rate of 65.3%.
